Mike DiFebbo, Performance Director, Guitar
Mike has played jazz guitar and bass in various big bands and small ensembles since 1983. One of the original members of the JCJO when it started as the Audubon Jazz Explosion in 1994, Mike played bass for the band for several years before settling into his current role as the band's guitarist. Appointed as the band's Assistant Director in 2000, Mike served as the Director of the band from 2004-2007. Currently Mike is the group's Performance Director serving as the Emcee during the band's performances

When not on stage with the Jump City Jazz Orchestra, Mike enjoys working in the recording studio. In addition to co-producing each of JCJO's three CDs, he has appeared as a session musician on CDs such as "Gather Round" by Jim Love and the Blue Groove (Dreamscape Records) and "United" by The Governors (LML Music). Mike also works regularly as a pit orchestra musician for number of regional theater groups, including Media Theatre for the Performing Arts and Jenkintown Music Theatre. By day, Mike is a lawyer with White and Williams LLP in Philadelphia.

Jon Ball, Drums
As he likes to say, Jon (not to be confused with Philly Mayor Michael Nutter) is a musician with a day job as a lawyer. In taking up the drums, Jon was following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Robert Ball, who had played his way through pharmacy school, the army, and then medical school. Jon earned a bachelor of music degree in music performance in classical percussion from the University of Michigan School of Music in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!), and then attended Temple University School of Law.

After law school and the bar exam, he played drums and percussion for a touring production of the Broadway musical Me and My Girl. Eight months and 83 cities later, Jon was back in Philadelphia. He continued to work as drummer and percussionist in Philadelphia and Atlantic City while embarking on his career as an attorney.

In addition to Jump City, Jon has played for numerous professional, community and school musical theater productions; showroom and lounge acts at Harrah's and Tropicana casinos; touring blues acts including Arthur Adams (Blind Pig), Chris Cain (Independent), Sydney Ellis (Black Wallet), Frankie Lee (Hi-Tone), and Lonnie Shields (Rooster); oldies acts including Danny and the Juniors, Johnny Tillotson, and the Marvelettes; Philadelphia blues and R&B acts including the late Frankie 'The Soulman' Alstin, George Bonds and the Blues Keepers, Brave New Blues, Deb Callahan Band, James 'Thunderbird' Ford, Ron Kraemer and the Hurricanes, and Wanamaker Lewis.

Michael Etkins, Bass
Michael began his career in music at age 5 when his father, also a musician, began giving him lessons on the Eflat clarinet. Over the years he added several instruments including the acoustic and electric bass, drums, bass clarinet and trumpet before deciding to focus on the bass at Penn State University. While at Penn State he studied under renowned jazz educator Dan Yoder and played in the University's nationally known big band, Centre Dimensions.

After leaving Penn State Michael began his career playing professionally in the Philadelphia area. In that time he as performed with many different area ensembles including The Warminster Symphony Orchestra, Bryn Athyn Orchestra, Bucks County Symphony, Eve Short Penthouse Trio, Jon Lewis Orchestra, Jump City Orchestra and the Romantic Jazz Quartet.

In addition to the many ensembles Michael has also performed at many area theatres including the Walnut Street Theatre and the Media Theatre where he recently performed in The Who's TOMMY and Camelot. Other shows Mike has performed in include The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma, South Pacific, Anything Goes, Fiddler on the Roof, My Favorite Year, I Sing (Philadelphia Premiere), Killer Shoes (World Premiere), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and others.

Eric Koper, Piano
Eric Koper was born in Philadelphia, Pa. and attended the Neupauer Conservatory of Music in Philadelphia on scholarship where he graduated with a Performance/Composition diploma. Eric studyed piano under Felix van Pelt and Richard Schatz and composition studies under Dr. William Schimmel. His composition ‘Lamb’ enjoyed it's world premier in New York City. Eric has played piano with local Philadelphia bands Spectral Jazz quartet, the Little Big Band and other jazz groups at various venues throughout the Philadelphia/South Jersey area and was broadcast live for WRTI radios ‘Jazz in the Park’ series. He has also performed solo and with bands at ballrooms, weddings, charity events, cocktail lounges, corporate events to backing shows on the Spirit of Philadelphia and Palumbos. Eric now resides in Malvern, Pa. and is also a consultant for Siemens Medical Solutions.

Bob Colligan, Bass
Bob Colligan began his musical training on guitar at the age of fifteen with his two older brothers, Jim and John. He soon purchased a bass guitar and began learning popular songs and playing with local Rock & Roll bands. He developed an interest in Jazz and began studying the music of Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorius, and Paul Chambers. In May of 1991, Bob earned his Bachelors degree from the University of the Arts in Jazz bass while studying with Philadelphia Orchestra bassist Henry Scott and Jazz bassist Craig Thomas. In May of 2000, Bob earned his Masters degree in classical instrument performance from Temple University while studying with bassist Anne Peterson. Bob resides in Wilmington Delaware with his wife Deborah and their two sons James and Samuel. Bob is currently teaching Music History, Music Appreciation, Jazz studies and bass performance at Camden County College and Eastern University.
